    Pickens Arts and Cultural Alliance Annual Meeting Celebrating Arts & Culture in Pickens County, Georgia Event Overview The Pickens Arts and Cultural Alliance Annual Meeting is a key community event for arts and culture in Pickens County, Georgia. Date & Time Thursday, January 29, 2026 Meet & Greet: 6:00 – 6:30 p.m. Annual Meeting Program: 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. Guests are encouraged to arrive early for the meet and greet. This time allows attendees to connect with artists, board members, and community partners in a relaxed setting. All are welcome. About Pickens Arts and Cultural Alliance The Pickens Arts and Cultural Alliance (PACA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the arts in Pickens County, Georgia. PACA works to expand access to arts education, provide funding opportunities, and promote local artists. The organization hosts workshops, exhibitions, performances, and community events throughout the year. PACA also partners with schools, nonprofits, and local businesses to strengthen the county’s cultural life.   • Children’s Marbling Workshops

    Children 3rd grade and above are invited to the Pickens County Public Library to learn the art technique of marbling on paper and textiles. This workshop will highlight the unique cultural and artistic contribution marble has had on Pickens County, the Marble Capital of Georgia! Happening February 19th at 1:30 PM and again at 4:00 PM. This workshop is made possible by a grant from the Georgia Council for the Arts in association with the National Endowment for the Arts, awarded to Pickens Arts and Cultural Alliance (PACA). Registration is free but required in advance. Children under 13 must be accompanied by a participating adult.     Paper & Textile Marbling Workshop in the Marble Capital of Georgia Pickens County, GA | Hands-On Art Workshop Workshop Overview Experience the beauty of paper and textile marbling in the heart of the Marble Capital of Georgia. This immersive, hands-on art workshop celebrates the natural textures and patterns of Georgia Marble, connecting local heritage with a centuries-old decorative art form. Designed for children, teens, and adults, this workshop provides creative arts education through guided instruction, live demonstrations, and individual art-making. These classes are provided through grant funding from the Georgia Council For the Arts. Workshop Details Number of Participants: Minimum 8 / Maximum 12 Duration: 3 hours (typically 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM) Location: Pickens County, Georgia Materials Included All materials and tools are fully provided for participants, including: One silk scarf One bandana-size cotton scarf Pre-treated fabric ready for marbling Step-by-step handouts covering the full marbling process Educational resources on marbling techniques, tools, and where to source materials Participants will leave with finished wearable art pieces and a deeper understanding of traditional and contemporary marbling methods. Cost & Funding Support This workshop is partially funded by the Georgia Council for the Arts, making it accessible to the community. Standard Cost: $80 per person Discounted Rate: $40 per person Program Description “Paper and Textile Marbling in the Marble Capital of Georgia” is a series of workshops and visual displays that highlight the cultural, historical, and artistic significance of marble in Pickens County. By translating the organic patterns of natural marble into marbled paper and textiles, participants gain an appreciation for both local materials and global artistic traditions. The program supports arts education and creative expression for all ages within the community. Instructor Ms. Neha Bhatt is a professional Teaching Artist specializing in marbling arts. She holds a Master’s degree in Special Education and has extensive experience teaching in schools, including Fulton County Schools. Ms. Bhatt also leads adult workshops at respected cultural institutions such as: Sawnee Arts Center (Cumming, GA) Atlanta Botanical Gardens – Gainesville Her workshops include an age-appropriate PowerPoint presentation, live demonstrations, and guided hands-on practice. She actively incorporates Georgia Marble into her instructional content, ensuring a strong local connection.
