This immersive, hands-on art workshop celebrates the natural textures and patterns of Georgia Marble, connecting local heritage with a centuries-old decorative art form. Designed for children, teens, and adults, this workshop provides creative arts education through guided instruction, live demonstrations, and individual art-making. These classes are provided through grant funding from the Georgia Council For the Arts. Workshop Details Number of Participants: Minimum 8 / Maximum 12 Duration: 3 hours (typically 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM) Location: Pickens County, Georgia Materials Included All materials and tools are fully provided for participants, including: One silk scarf One bandana-size cotton scarf Pre-treated fabric ready for marbling Step-by-step handouts covering the full marbling process Educational resources on marbling techniques, tools, and where to source materials Participants will leave with finished wearable art pieces and a deeper understanding of traditional and contemporary marbling methods. By translating the organic patterns of natural marble into marbled paper and textiles, participants gain an appreciation for both local materials and global artistic traditions. The program supports arts education and creative expression for all ages within the community. Instructor Ms. Neha Bhatt is a professional Teaching Artist specializing in marbling arts. She holds a Master’s degree in Special Education and has extensive experience teaching in schools, including Fulton County Schools. Ms. Bhatt also leads adult workshops at respected cultural institutions such as: Sawnee Arts Center (Cumming, GA) Atlanta Botanical Gardens – Gainesville Her workshops include an age-appropriate PowerPoint presentation, live demonstrations, and guided hands-on practice. She actively incorporates Georgia Marble into her instructional content, ensuring a strong local connection.
