Medium: Oil paint

My process begins by observing and appreciating nature- this is what inspires my work. I paint landscapes, botanicals, and animals, and my style ranges from detailed to impressionistic. When I view a subject I want to paint, my style is influenced by how I want the painting to be portrayed. Sometimes, I will paint animals with human qualities (like wearing glasses) or I will paint a serene mountain-scape with vibrant colors and pronounced brushstrokes. Ultimately, I paint to spark happiness.

I am a professor at UNG, and I have been oil painting part-time for over 3 years. While I am mostly self-taught, I learned how to get started after taking a local oil painting class. My husband, dogs, and I have lived in Cherokee County for 8 years.
